Daimler, aims to sell 300,000 Mercedes-Benz cars in China annually in 2015, its chief executive said on Friday, nearly tripling its sales this year.
China will become the biggest market for Daimler AG's (DAI.XE) Mercedes Benz Cars unit, around 2014 to 2016, Daimler Chief Executive Dieter Zetsche said Friday.
Zetsche also said he doesn't expect any major overcapacity in China's auto industry if its economic growth remains at a fast pace. Daimler could have an active role in the global commercial vehicle industry consolidation, he added, but said it doesn't have any imminent plans for mergers and acquisitions.
Mercedes is set to sell 120,000 cars in China this year, compared with 100,000 forecast, due to the continued growth of the national economy.
German groups Audi and BMW currently out-sell Daimler in China.
