US: Mercedes recall to fix steering glitch

Mercedes US/UK was recalling more than 100,000 Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the United States and the United Kingdom to prevent a loss of power steering fluid. The NHTSA said in a posting to its website Monday that the recall involved Mercedes-Benz C-Class vehicles from the 2010 model year and Mercedes-Benz E-Class vehicles from the 2010-2011 model years. The recall involves vehicles produced between June 2009 and late February 2010. A problem with the steering system's pump could lead to a loss of fluid and "owners may not have sufficient control of the vehicle in areas, such as parking lots, where maximum power steering is required, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash," the NHTSA said on its website. The Daimler spokesman stressed that drivers retained control of the car even in the event of a power steering failure. Mercedes planned to fix the problem in 2010 and 2011 models this month by re-tightening a faulty ...

Motorist reverses Mercedes through a brick wall on the seventh floor of a multi-storey car park

The rear of a white Mercedes hung out from the seventh floor of a downtown Tulsa parking garage after the driver backed through the garage wall. Ralph Hudson says his foot got stuck between his Mercedes' brake and gas pedal as he was backing up in a towering parking garage in downtown Tulsa on Wednesday. The car's rear wheels stopped on the ledge created by the hole in the wall and officials were able to drive the car safely back into the garage. No injuries were reported. Police officer Jason Willingham says Hudson was not ticketed over the incident. video platform video management video solutions video player No related posts.

The Mercedes-Benz plant in Bremen is gearing up for the production of a fourth model of the high-volume C-Class model range. As of 2011, a Coupé will be added to a flexible production line, which already produces the three existing models. This will be a new addition to Bremen’s current production portfolio in the C-Class segment, comprising the Saloon, the Estate and the compact GLK sport utility vehicle (SUV). "The decision by the Board of Management to produce the Coupé version of the current C-Class here in Bremen as well represents another important milestone on our way to becoming Mercedes’ competence centre for the C-Class and is a clear sign of the trust in the Bremen team's capabilities and standards," says Peter Schabert, Head of the Mercedes-Benz plant in Bremen. The Bremen plant is developed into the worldwide competence centre for the high-volume C-Class model series. Allocating production of the new Coupé ...

Mercedes Prepares the CLS Estate

The 2011 Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake edition is expected to be displayed at this year’s Beijing Auto Show. The concept unveiled by Mercedes at the Geneva Motor Show, and named F800 Style, proves to be an important page in the German automaker’s history. After talking about the influences that the concept will have on future small or compact class models and that it anticipates the new generation of the CLS model, it seems that the concept will also influence another Mercedes product. The CLS shooting brake is expected in 2012 and the car is said to be designed as more of a wagon than a real shooting brake. The car will have a four doors and a rear cargo area, something that fits the description of a wagon or an estate more than a typical shooting brake, which normally has two doors, an extended rear and is basically a coupe based car.
